I've packrafted the Shoalhaven River from source to sea. It was a great adventure, taking over 30 days to hike to the headwaters and then travel by packraft over 327km, dropping 864m to the pacific ocean. Most of the journey I did solo but along the way friends have joined me which was lots of fun. I completed the journey in my spare time over a 24 month period from February 2015 to February 2017. Please check out my video and photos of this stunning river.
DISCLAIMER: I have no training in bushwalking or packrafting. All I have is an appreciation and respect for the power of nature. There are some big dangerous and very scary rapids on this river all of which I avoided (with careful planning and by inspecting every rapid I approached. I also ran the river at low water to avoid the dangers of higher flows. Despite these precautions I still managed to flip, fall and tumble my way down the river and with dumb luck I did not sustain significant injury.
